Conference Report: The Challenge of Cross-Border Migration
The Jean Monnet Project “Europe Dialogue on Migration: Cross-Border Mobility and the European Union Refugee Crisis” (CEDoM) was pleased to co-organize a series of public events in conjunction with the Canadian Council for Refugees’ Consultation at the University of Victoria (May 29-June 1st). CEDoM co-sponsored three events for the general public and engaged with many of the over 300 delegates who explored issues affecting refugee protection and newcomer settlement. The focus of this CEDoM initiative was to debate public policy approaches to governing refugees from a comparative transatlantic perspective. The EU project allowed for debating the Canadian experience with a comparative view to how the European Union and EU member states have tackled the challenge of managing irregular migration and refugees.
