EUCAnet Activities: Youth Engagement
- Involving young scholars in pre-seminar events (See for example the pre-seminars organised during the conferences for the “Europe Canada Dialogue on Democracy project”)
- Offering essay contest (see our latest contest on “Populism – a corrective or threat to democracy”
- Inviting young writers to contribute to the “EUCAnet Blog section on Democracy”
- Video series with young scholars: Featuring the profiles of young scholars for example “Emerging Scholars in Canada”, individual interviews of PhD fellows on issues of democracy.
- Supporting the Young Scholars Network of the European Community Studies Association in Canada – see our video
- Offering specific training for young scholars on how engage with traditional and social media safely in an academic environment. See our in-house guide on media outreach strategies for young and senior scholars
- Supporting young scholars when learning to draft policy recommendation. A mentorship program is in place that allows for a close collaboration with a senior scholar. See the outcome of these collaborations in our policy memos section.
- Offering in-house and online (due to COVID) internships and volunteer positions. The EUCAnet internships are organized with the support of the Centre for Global Studies. Students are often invited to assist the Centre and learn from a broader international environment. Read some of the internship stories in our “News from our Team” section.
- Team oriented work with students for specific projects: the newest initiative is the development of educational materials on memory politics.
