Johannes Leitner is head of the Competence Center for Black Sea Region Studies at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna. His research interests focus on institutional and political environment and their impact on international businesses in post-socialist transition countries. In particular, Johannes evaluates political risk factors in the region and analyses their impact on international business operations. He lectured at universities in Albania, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Romania and Turkey. Johannes was involved in a number of research projects focusing on the business environment and corresponding political risk factors in Ukraine and Russia, including on the ground data generation in both countries. Through consulting projects with Austrian companies exposed to the region, he keeps track, with recent developments and their impacts on international businesses. Also, Johannes teaches political risk management in the post-socialist transition countries. Prior to that he was in the consulting industry for two years and from 2005 to 2010 he was assistant professor at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) and visiting scholar at Stockholm School of Economics. Johannes Leitner holds a Master in International Business Studies from WU Vienna and a Master of South-East-European Studies from University of Vienna. He received his doctoral degree from WU Vienna.
