
Meissner, Hannes
Hannes Meissner is a senior researcher in the Competence Center for Black Sea Region Studies. His research focuses on informal aspects of rule, political risks, post-Soviet transition processes, Soviet legacy, the “resource curse”, as well as on governance initiatives. In 2012, Hannes Meissner was awarded a PhD in political science by the University of Hamburg. During his PhD Studies (2007-2012) he took part in the research programme “Violence and Security” of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the PhD programme “Informal networks, corruption and political regimes” of the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen. Besides his role in the Competence Center for Black Sea Region Studies, Hannes Meissner regularly gives lectures and seminars at the University of Vienna, the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation and the Austrian Oriental Society. He has, moreover, given guest lectures at partner universities abroad, in particular the Beykoz School of Logistics in Istanbul, JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskyla and the Southern Federal University Rostov na Donu.
